PhotoAs part of Spring Online Week 2014, staff members from Aurion Learning will be taking part in Silver Surfers Day to deliver free IT taster sessions to over 50s in the local community.

Now in its 9th year, Silver Surfers is organised by Business in the Community in partnership with the NI Direct Digital Inclusion Unit of the Department of Finance and Personnel and Libraries NI to enable over 50s with limited technical knowledge on:

  • how to use a computer;
  • how to register for a free e-mail account and
  • how to e-mail family abroad, book cheap flights, save time on shopping, find a computer course, bank safely and more.

Aurion staff will be amongst a host of organisations across Northern Ireland to deliver the one-on-one sessions.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative, Aurion Learning is committed to promoting life-long learning and helping to bridge the digital divide in Northern Ireland.

Speaking about the initiative, Ciaran O’Hare, Director of Aurion Learning said:

“We have been involved in Silver Surfers for a number of years now. We believe that it is of real benefit to people of all ages to develop computer skills. Access to technology can help people connect with friends and family, learn new things and much more.”
