Aurion Learning’s seXeLearning website has received another Award to add to its list having already scooped the top prize in the Health and Personal Social Services (HPSS) Quality Awards 2007.

This time success beckoned at the all Ireland Irish eGovernment Awards which took place in Dublin on Thursday the 21st of February 2008. The winning programme, seXelearning which picked up the best Health Sector e-Government Award is an innovative on-line learning programme aimed at professionals involved in promoting the sexual health of young people.

The programme was developed by Aurion Learning in partnership with their lead client, the Southern Health and Social Services Board (SHSSB) in conjunction with the Southern Health and Social Care Trust, the University of Ulster and other statutory and voluntary organisations. The Awards were presented at a gala dinner in the ‘plush’ Four Seasons Hotel attended by over 350 guests, including Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Eamon Ryan TD.

On receiving the award on behalf of the SHSSB at a special ceremony in Dublin, Breda Teahan, Commissioner for Health Promotion said: “I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of everyone involved in the development of Sexelearning.
“This is a truly innovative programme that raises awareness of key issues relating to sexual health promotion.  The programme helps professionals deliver consistent support and advice to young people.”

Shortlisted on numerous occasions and having won the 2005 Health sector award with the HSE Irish Health Service’s online learning portal, Aurion Learning’s Dr Maureen Murphy was delighted to win the Award;
“Although we work across a broad range of sectors, we have always been and continue to be very successful in the Health sector eLearning market. Tonight’s Award is a testament to our success in this sector and we are also delighted for our client and partner, the Southern Health and Social Services Board who worked extremely hard to make this project a reality.”

Commending those involved in the programme, Acting Chief Executive of the SHSSB Sean McKeever said: “I wish to commend all the partners involved in this programme and congratulate them on achieving this All Ireland E Government Award.”
