A new partnership with the Nautical Institute

17 November 2008

Having beaten off stiff competition from across the UK, Aurion Learning have recently been awarded the contract to design a new online CPD portal for the Nautical Institute’s members. The Nautical Institute is a thriving international professional body for qualified mariners – with over 40 branches worldwide and more than 7,000 members in over 110 countries. Having recognised the importance of Continuous Professional Development (CPD), the Institute plan to provide a comprehensive, informative and robust CPD portal to support the CPD and career progression of its members. The finished product, based on Aurion’s flagship cpdengage™ application, will integrate with the Institutes existing website and membership database paving the way for a seamless and intuitive web based CPD environment where members from all over the world can logon and learn.

Peter Aylott, the Director of Professional Development at the Institute highlighted that,

"The Nautical Institute is the leading international professional body for qualified mariners and Aurion's system will provide, for the first time, the opportunity for these professionals to plan and manage their through-life learning at an individual level. In this sense the system is ground-breaking and a really exciting prospect for our members and potential members."

Member’s will have access to features including a Personal Development Plan area, a ‘My Diary’ feature, CPD catalogue of programmes and events, a learning reflection area, a print centre, and a message centre. At an administrative level the Nautical Institute will have the facility to:

An optional eLearning facility will also be made available.

Dr Maureen Murphy, the Managing Director at Aurion Learning commented that ‘this is another great opportunity for Aurion to continue its focus on working with Professional Bodies across the UK and Ireland’.

The Institute’s new CPD portal is planned for launch at a conference to be held at the International Maritime Organisation, the UN maritime agency, in London in March 2009.
