Aurion wins substantial Health Service contract

17 November 2008

Belfast based, Aurion Learning has been awarded a lucrative Health Service contract to supply eLearning educational services to the Irish Health Service Executive (HSE) over the next three years. The work relates to the ongoing development of the HSE’s online Learning Centre which was originally designed and developed by the Aurion team back in the early nineties. The Aurion team beat off stiff competition across the UK and Ireland to become the preferred supplier once again. A delighted Dr Maureen Murphy, Managing Director of Aurion Learning stated that,

“As existing suppliers, it was crucial for us to win this contract, and to be selected again is a testament to our good work to date which has seen the Learning Centre evolve into an award winning, world class online Learning facility”.

Over the last few years, the Learning Centre gained significant success with almost 12,000 HSE staff registrations, whilst receiving the prestigious Irish eGovernment Health Sector Award back in 2005 with a commendation at the European eGovernment Awards.
In its current state, the online Learning Centre offers staff at all levels the opportunity to develop a personal plan and access a suite of eLearning resources and tools to meet their personal and professional development needs.

Looking ahead, the HSE’s Pat Kenny acknowledged the significant role that the Learning Centre will play stating that ‘it has the potential for becoming a key delivery agent in the HSE’s Transformation agenda and will form a core part of the drive to develop the HSE as a Learning Organisation”.

As part of the contract, Aurion Learning plans to further develop the Learning Centre using the latest development technologies to support and implement Learning 2.0 projects. These will include the use of blogs, wikis and the development of Social Networks to support knowledge sharing. Aurion will also provide a suite of learning and technology services that encompass Rapid eLearning Development, eLearning Strategy Development, Web Services Development and the integration of a new Learning Management System.
