The Irish Taxation Institute team up with Aurion

18 February 2009

Aurion have recently partnered with the Irish Taxation Institute (ITI) to support a content review and restructure of the ITI’s flagship ‘Associateship’ qualification. As the leading Tax qualification, the ITI’s three-year part time professional qualification is recognised by the EU as the pre-eminent qualification for tax consultants in Ireland.

Having experienced considerable growth in student numbers, with a 40% increase over the past three years, ITI want to explore new and innovative ways of delivering the content in a way that meets the demand.

As educational designers, Aurion will be taking the lead on an initial review of the current course format and structure to ensure that all the course materials are presented in a clear and concise way in line with the course objectives and outcomes.

Further project developments will focus on supporting the ITI and their team of content specialists with the process and procedures necessary to easily update the content in a consistent way on a yearly basis. For example, Style guides for manuals and class materials will be produced as well as a review of the overall assessment strategy to support those writing the questions along with the examiners who must carry out the assessments.

In terms of delivery Aurion Learning in partnership with the ITI will also review the current content delivery model. At present the programme is delivered in traditional lecture format at weekends or in the evenings. However, Aurion will also be advising on new and exciting pedagogical ways of supporting the programme online for example through eLearning and online knowledge sharing and support.

It is thought that the project will be long term, however initial work has begun and phase one of the project, which involves content restructuring and the production of new course manuals will be completed for the beginning of the academic year in September 2009.
