Challenge

The four Dublin Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) Development Offices identified a need for a new educational resource for Dublin-based food producers that would enhance knowledge, improve skill sets and develop producer competencies.

Solution

Working in collaboration with the Dublin Food Chain, comprising of the four Dublin LEO’s, we designed and developed a new online food programme and eLearning initiative called the Digital School of Food.

The Digital School of Food is a website, comprising of online training materials that offer support and expert guidance local food producers in the Dublin City and Council areas to develop their skills and competencies in food business.

To fully meet the requirements of the Digital School of Food, we undertook the following key activities:

  • Design and development of a custom Digital School of Food landing page incorporating a video introduction and an overview of modules included within the Digital School of Food
  • Configuration of a LearnUpon learning management system from which food producers can access the learning content, and from which administrators track course uptake and usage
  • Development of a suite of 19 custom eLearning modules across a range of topics including product development, finance, sales growth, and business expansion. Each module comprises of downloadable resources, animations, and video interviews.
  • Scripting and production of a series of animations and recording of head to camera video interviews with food producers and mentors and buyers offering expert advice.

Results

Since its launch, hundreds of food entrepreneurs, businesses and producers have accessed advice and expertise and completed the resources of growing a successful business.
